Euphemism Defined:
A mild or pleasant word or phrase that is used instead of one that is unpleasant or offensive. So says Merriam-Webster.
When we zig so we don’t zag it does not go unnoticed. As seen above, there is a word for it. But where does knowing this lead us? For me, at least, it leads to frustration. Think about it. If we are never really saying anything, nothing is ever ‘technically’ amiss. The result is that euphemisms reinforce the fallacy that all is well. Even when simply switching a word demonstrates all is not.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say.
